ShieldBill Pay
vs Stripe
Looking for a Stripe alternative does not always mean replacing every part of your current setup. You may need a different provider for future payments, another approved route, or help choosing a PSP for a new business. Start by separating those needs from any review of your existing account.

The offering, before the pitch
What does Stripe offer?
Stripe Payments is a payment platform with hosted Checkout, Payment Links, APIs and other payment tools. It is an option to evaluate directly when its business requirements and available integrations suit your company. ShieldBill Pay instead starts with helping you assess suitable PSP options and onboarding requirements.

| Where you begin | Evaluate and apply for Stripe’s own payment platform. | Discuss suitable PSP options based on your business brief. |
| Integration | Offers hosted payment tools and API-based integrations. | Assess onboarding and integration with the provider selected for your business. |
| Existing payment details | Documents an eligible, secure provider-to-provider export process. | Plan migration only when the sending and receiving providers support it. |

Which approach fits your business?
When to consider ShieldBill Pay
Share your situation with ShieldBill Pay if you want to explore suitable providers beyond your current account. We can discuss your requirements, provider onboarding and the feasibility of preparing another route with ShieldBill. A new application is for future processing; it does not resolve an existing provider’s held balance or account review.
When to consider Stripe
Consider applying directly to Stripe when its offering fits your business and you want to evaluate its hosted or developer-led integration options. If you already use Stripe, identify what works well before deciding which parts of your setup need to change.
A better brief. A clearer decision.
What to ask before you apply.
Is the problem acceptance, payouts or provider fit?
A decline, a held payout and an account eligibility issue are different problems. Describe which one you are experiencing and keep working with the relevant provider on its review. Use a new PSP search to assess the requirements for future payment acceptance.
What happens to saved cards and subscriptions?
Make a map of customer records, billing schedules and stored payment references before planning a move. Stripe documents a secure export process for eligible data to a qualifying receiving processor. Agree the transfer and integration requirements with both sides before scheduling a transition.
How will I know the backup is ready?
Define an approved account, a completed connection and successful tests as separate milestones. Establish who can activate the route and which payments it can support. If some customers need a new payment method, include that communication in the plan.

Stripe comparison: common questions
Can I keep Stripe while exploring another PSP?
Your current provider can remain part of the plan where its account terms and your integration permit it. Explain the setup you want to preserve so a proposed additional provider can be evaluated against it.
Can ShieldBill Pay simply extract and reuse Stripe tokens?
No universal token reuse is promised. Stripe’s documentation describes a secure migration process for eligible payment data to a qualifying receiving processor. Scope, eligibility and integration must be confirmed with the providers involved.
