PayPal funds on hold · ShieldBill Pay

PayPal holding your funds?
Keep new sales moving.

Held funds shouldn’t freeze your whole business. We help you add another payment processor and keep new sales moving while you work through PayPal’s hold.

Start here

Deal with the held payment. Protect the next sale. PayPal controls release of the existing funds; a new PSP handles future payments.

Money on hold?
Find out why.

Open the affected payment in PayPal. Check the explanation, available actions and any release information shown. PayPal’s help centre directs sellers to the options beneath their balance.

Record the amount, order and notice date. Check whether new payments and withdrawals still work. A transaction hold, an account limitation and a reserve need different responses.

A held seller paymentThe payment details and its release steps.
A request for account informationThe Resolution Center and requested documents.
A dispute or claimThe case, response deadline and delivery evidence.
A reserve or account closureThe notice and terms that apply to that account.

A held payment?
Get the records together.

For eligible seller payments, PayPal may offer tracking or order-status updates. Add accurate delivery information for shipped goods. For services or digital items, update completion status only when the work is actually complete.

Use the options offered for that payment. Keep the order, delivery evidence and customer messages together. These actions can support PayPal’s review; they do not create a guaranteed release date.

  • Check the actions shown on the held transaction.
  • Add genuine tracking or fulfilment details where requested.
  • Keep invoices, order records and delivery evidence together.
  • Answer any separate account or dispute request.

New sales still coming?
Give them another payment route.

A hold creates pressure on the business behind it. Start a separate plan for future payments. We find suitable card processors and help get the application moving.

Tell us your products, company country, volume and current PayPal situation. Include your store and billing tools. We help check the account terms and the work needed for a new checkout.

  • Compare settlement schedules and reserve conditions.
  • Check the full fee schedule using your own volume.
  • Confirm the checkout connection and payment methods.
  • Test payments, refunds and order notifications before launch.

Your next payout?
Know the settlement terms.

Get the new provider’s settlement and reserve terms clear before committing. Another PSP has its own approval and operating rules. A second account is useful when the account and connection are ready.

Keep existing PayPal refunds, disputes and the held balance in the current account process. Use confirmed available funds and provider dates for your cash-flow plan. Moving checkout does not move the old balance.

Before the next hold.
Get your backup ready.

With ShieldBill, prepare supported billing and routing across approved providers. Connect the additional PSP. Test the route. Give someone ownership of keeping it ready.

If subscriptions use PayPal wallet agreements, plan their handover separately from card payments. Check which changes need customer approval. Keep the next renewal in view when changing checkout.

These steps do not guarantee fund release. PayPal controls the hold; the new processor handles future payments under its own terms.

Common questions.

Why is PayPal holding my money?

PayPal says holds can depend on seller activity and account information. Open the affected payment for the reason and actions that apply to you. Check for a separate limitation or dispute too.

How long will PayPal hold my funds?

Use the release information for your own payment. Timing depends on the type of hold and outstanding steps. Account limitations, reserves and disputes can follow different processes. Another seller’s timeline is not a promise for yours.

Can ShieldBill Pay release the money?

PayPal controls the held balance. We help find another processor for future payments and build a backup around your business.

Can I keep PayPal and add card processing?

Yes, where the account terms and integrations allow it. Keep the payment methods that work and add another approved PSP for new sales.

Will another PSP have its own holds or reserves?

It can. Compare settlement, reserve conditions and review requirements before signing. We help you ask those questions as part of the provider search.
