Square shut you down? · ShieldBill Pay
Square deactivated your account?
Get paid in days.
Your next sale shouldn’t depend on one account. We find your next processor and help you take payments again in days. Keep your customers. Build your backup.
Save Square’s notice. Use its appeal route if you are eligible. Get the next processor application moving in parallel, with an honest account of what happened.
Square deactivated you?
Start with the notice.
Save the email and Dashboard notice. Record what stopped, any appeal instructions and what the notice says about your balance. Use the country-specific agreement for your account; the Square references below are US materials.
List the sales channels affected. A till, online store, invoice and recurring charge may need different replacements. Keep existing orders, refunds and disputes assigned to someone while you work on new payments.
- Save the notice and account records you can still access.
- Check whether an appeal is offered for your account.
- List affected sales channels and upcoming renewals.
- Keep records of unsettled transactions and customer obligations.
Appeal available?
Follow Square’s instructions.
Square offers a self-service appeal to eligible deactivated sellers. Eligibility and the link appear in its notice. Follow that route and supply accurate business information and the evidence requested.
Explain the issue identified in the notice and any changes you have made. Keep the submission confirmation and answer follow-up requests. An appeal is a review, not a promise of reinstatement. Give your team a separate plan for taking the next payment.
Get paid again.
In days.
Tell us what you sell, your company country and monthly volume. Include the deactivation and processing history. We find suitable PSPs and help prepare the application around the business you actually run.
We help merchants get back to processing in days. Provider approval, complete documents and a tested connection determine your launch. Get fees, settlement, reserves and the implementation work clear before signing.
| What you need | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| Online sales | Store connection, payment methods, refunds and order updates. |
| Counter payments | Compatible terminals, receipts and staff workflow. |
| Invoices or bookings | Collection tools and customer notifications. |
| Subscriptions | Supported saved credentials, billing schedules and customer authorisation. |
Changing payment providers?
Keep customers through the switch.
A new merchant account does not automatically replace Square’s hardware, bookings or customer records. Choose what stays and what needs changing. Confirm device compatibility before relying on the existing reader.
For recurring customers, map the next charge date and who owns billing. We help check eligible saved-card migration while access and provider support allow it. Square customer or card IDs are not universal tokens. Some customers may need to add a payment method again.
New sales coming in?
Build a stronger backup.
Square still controls its account decision and any retained funds. Moving new sales does not move that balance or remove existing refund and dispute responsibilities. Follow your notice for those questions.
Once the replacement works, prepare another approved PSP with ShieldBill where the connections support it. Test the backup and name the person who can use it. Make the next interruption easier to handle.
PUT THE PLAN TO WORK
Your Square-deactivation action list.
Prepare the appeal, new processor and customer handover together.
Square decides its appeal and retained balance. Another PSP needs its own approval. Square hardware and stored card IDs do not automatically work with a new provider.
Common questions.
Why did Square deactivate my account?
Use the reason in your own notice. Keep any business or transaction information Square requests. Another seller’s experience cannot establish why your account was deactivated.
Can I appeal Square’s decision?
Eligible sellers receive an appeal route in Square’s notification. Use that form and provide the requested evidence. Square decides eligibility and the outcome.
Can you get me processing again in days?
Yes. We help merchants find another PSP and resume processing in days. Your business, documents, approval and the checkout or terminal connection set the actual launch date.
Can I keep my Square reader and saved cards?
Check hardware and credential support separately. A reader is not automatically compatible with another PSP. Eligible saved cards need a secure provider-supported migration; otherwise customers may need to enter details again.
Will switching release my Square balance?
No. Square handles the existing balance under your account notice and applicable terms. The replacement provider handles future payments.
