Shopify Payments suspended?
Get checkout working again.

Your customers still want to buy. Give them a working checkout. We’ll help find your next PSP, prepare the application and plan the subscription handover.

Start here

A Shopify Payments restriction and a closed Shopify store are different situations. Establish which one you have. Then confirm the review route and supported replacement providers.

Payments suspended?
Check the notice first.

Save the store owner’s email and the admin notification. Record whether charges, payouts or the payment account have been restricted. Check any instructions for review or further information.

Establish whether your storefront remains available. This guide covers a payments restriction on an existing store. If Shopify has suspended the store itself, the platform-access issue needs its own resolution. Adding a PSP does not restore a terminated storefront.

  • Save the reason and any response deadline.
  • List payment methods and sales channels affected.
  • Check whether the store itself is active.
  • Record upcoming renewals, refunds and unfulfilled orders.

Respond to the suspension.
Prepare your next PSP.

Follow the route in Shopify’s notification for the account decision. Provide accurate information and evidence requested for that case. Keep a record of follow-up questions and changes made to the business.

Prepare the next application in parallel. We need what you sell, company country, volume and a clear explanation of the restriction. Include the delivery model and processing history. A new provider will make its own approval decision.

Replacing Shopify Payments?
Confirm a supported checkout.

Shopify’s guidance identifies third-party providers as an option after a payment-account decline or deactivation. Start with gateways available for your country and store configuration. Confirm the candidate in your admin before choosing it.

We find PSPs and help get onboarding moving. Approval is one part of the launch. The gateway, payment methods and checkout need a supported connection too. We help merchants resume processing in days where approval and the integration work allow it.

Changing the payment setup?
Protect the next renewal.

Map subscriptions before changing the provider. Record who owns the saved credentials, the next renewal and the app that sends the charge. Confirm the supported migration or customer payment-update process.

A new PSP account does not automatically inherit Shopify subscription credentials. We help coordinate eligible migration and billing changes where supported. Any ShieldBill connection is checked separately for your setup. Plan the first renewal and prevent duplicate charges.

Your new checkout.
Test it. Then take payments.

Test the payment methods your customers use. Check a successful order, a failure, authentication where required, a refund and the order-status update. Name the person who decides the checkout is ready.

Retain access needed for old payouts, refunds and disputes. Changing providers does not release a held balance. Prepare a supported backup once the new checkout works, and keep the account, platform and integration requirements documented.

A payment provider does not restore a terminated storefront. Launch depends on approval and a supported, tested connection. Subscriptions and retained balances do not move automatically.

Common questions.

Shopify Payments deactivated my account. Is this the right guide?

Yes, if the payment-account restriction stops your existing store taking the payments it needs. Check the exact notice. A store termination or payout-only hold requires a different response.

Can my Shopify store stay open without Shopify Payments?

Shopify supports third-party payment providers, subject to availability and store configuration. A Shopify Payments restriction does not by itself tell you the status of the storefront. Confirm both separately.

Can you get checkout working again in days?

We help merchants resume processing in days. For Shopify, the new provider must approve the business and have a supported checkout connection for the store. Documents, app compatibility and testing determine the launch.

Can I just open a standalone Stripe account?

Do not assume so. Shopify’s availability guidance generally excludes standalone Stripe in regions where Shopify Payments is available. Check the gateways actually offered for your store.

Will my subscriptions and held payouts move automatically?

No. Subscription credentials, billing schedules and customer authorisations need a supported handover. Existing Shopify Payments funds remain subject to the original account process.
